My Version - Urban Race in the Big D
Because I literally have no motivation to accomplish anything else today...I am using my fun Urban Adventure Race as my pin. I know I'm stretching it a little. My friend Jamie and I decided this would be really fun to attempt and it was very different than your normal 5K or 10K. It was a scavenger hunt throughout downtown with 12 different clues and stops along the way.
Here was one of the clues:
Here was another fun one...we had to find two people not participating in the race and get them to dress up and take a picture with us. (One is our friend Kim in pink and then there's the dude getting off the light rail who was just happy to take his pic with 3 women).
We also had to find artwork under bridges and on the sides of buildings. Our friends Kim and Darryl were our ground crew (and cheerleaders) and drove around and found these so we weren't running around the entire city trying to find them.
Jamie and I ended up making a huge loop and went 7.25 miles! We ran and walked and ended up coming in just under 2 hours and 23 minutes. I don't think either of us were prepared for the 7.25 miles but it didn't really feel that bad as we were doing it (although now I'm pretty sore). We ended up coming in 10 minutes away from the top 10 which we were very proud of and mad at ourselves about (we could have run a little faster).
After the race we proceeded to eat the biggest juiciest burgers and the fried ride at the Twisted Root Burger Company. Which probably negated all the calories we burned and more but it was so good!
Next time I think we'll check out the Urban Beer Hunt...this was going on at the same time and looked really fun too!
